(...) Thought this might interest you? Dave (...) - alligator snapping turtle
I just recieved a letter from "Holly" - she recognized this turtle! - amazing!!!
Here it is:
(...) P.S. I would also like to add that on the page with all of the pictures submitted by guests
there is a black and white photo of a man (bald, glasses) holding a snapping turtle up out of a barrel.
I was astonished to see this picture on your website because that picture was taken here in my home town
(Southern Illinois) when my parents were children (they are in late 40's). That man lived here in my home
town and that picture was published in the local news papers. Big Bill was the turtles name and it was an
Alligator snapping turtle, not a common snapper. It was caught in a net by accident in the Big Muddy River
while the man was fishing. I know a little more about Bill, so if you're interested...just ask!
Thank you again!

I just want to say that my previous 'common snapper' comment was wrong and I corrected it to 'alligator snapper'.
I do post the photos of the turtles submitted by guests using a template that I have created, and I have a phrase 'common snapper'
there. I am trying to keep up with new posts and sometimes I do miss a line in the text, so please let me know if you see
anything odd there! - Thank you Holly for fishing this one out - I have already corrected it and this was of course
one huge alligator snapper! I will post more info about this guy (or girl) as soon as I get it from Holly.
Stay tuned!
Stan
