The tank setup for baby alligator snappers does not require a basking spot. These turtles are 100% aquatic - except for the time when mature
females leave the water to lay eggs.
The water shouldn't be too deep. The best would be to keep it at such level that the turtle will be able to comfortably reach the surface
to breath while laying at the bottom.
Having a bit deeper water is not bad though. With few larger rockes and driftwood placed submerged in the tank, the alligator snapper will
hold on to them and will be able to go about his business. Nowerthless, there should be a shallow area arranged for the turtle when it
decides to have a walk.
It is also a good practice to offer the snapper some sort of overhead piece of driftwood as a hiding spot. I will will give the turtle
a sense of privacy and security, which the alligator snapper love.
