The alligator snapping turtles are very strong, but they do not move a lot. The setup should be as simple and functional as possible. It
is easy to maintain a small gator snapper in an ellaborate enclosure, but to keep this way an adult is a real challange. Such setups
are only possible for ZOO's or people who can afford heir own indoor or outdoor pond (those living in warm area).
These snappers don't need a basking spot. They spend their lives underwater, and will leave only to nest. These people who have adult alligator snappers
and want to breed them will basically a pond with a land area. For all the rest, a small aquarium at first, and then a large tank will be sufficient.
Of course, the huge adults will need a pond or their own very large tank - the type you will see in ZOO's.
