When speaking of water, the most important think to remember is to keep it clean and warm.
The alligator snapping turtles are from Southern United States, which are warm areas. The water in their
enclosure should be kept warm all year round. The optimium temperature would be around 23 - 25 degrees Celsius.
The water should be clean at all times. Aquatic turtles eat, sleep and defecate in water. Not paying attention to the purity of water in their
enclosures will lead to the growth of bacteria - a source of possible illness to the turtle and the owner.
Water turtles generate much more waste in comparison to fish, therefore it is a good practice to invest in the most powerful, preferebly
canister type external filter.
