This page contains data on growth of some of my turtles. The charts are designed to give just a general idea of how fast the snapping turtles grow.
Turtles don't grow at the same rate. Usually the increase in size of wild specimens will be slower comparing to that of well fed captive snapping turles.
Even under ideal conditions, sibling turtles will grow at different rates, and their age can not be estimated based on the growth rings
on their shells. If there is one lesson for the potential owners to learn from these charts is that no matter what a hatchling snapping turtle
will eventually become a large heavy animal weighing in excess of 30 pounds.
The measurements were taken on the first of each month.
