What is this ? Chrysemys picta picta - eastern painted turtle ! ( courtesy of Angie )
I have recieved this picture in mail from Angie and having tried to figure out
what species is the turtle, I decided to enhance the small dark image of the turtle on the rock with Adobe Photoshop.
Isn't it miraculous ? The first look at the little one - see the upper right corner ! So, my first guess
was the painted turtle.

After recieving this and the next photo of the turtle - yes, eastern painted turtle indeed. A small species,
5 to 6 inches long on average ( up tp 7 ), mainly carnivore. With dark brown carapace, immaculate yellow plastron and
pretty red edges with black stripes - a beautiful turtle !
