March.15/2004 Vancouver Pet Expo, March 13 - 14, 2004 by Stan Gielewski
The first Vancouver Annual Pet Expo 2004 is over now. It was a great show with a small but nice reptile section. Even nicer, the booth number 307 was mine
! That's right ! It was a great learning experience. I met some interesting people there and exchanged
business cards. I had a seminar about keeping snapping turtles as pets and had quite few visitors at my booth
to chat with. The purpose of me being at the show was to educate as many people about snapping turtles as I could.
I had one of my female snappers walk from the seminar area all the way to my booth. She was quite admired and showed the
unbelievers that snapping turtles can be quite friendly, and some of them just refuse do bite !
I was told that my set-up was attractive, and I agree with that ! I didn't have a large banner overhead but I will make sure to have one next
time !
Here, take a look at my booth:
And a bit closer:
Left side - showing some of my photographs ...
... and the right side, with one of the all time favorites - my painting of a stone fish
using the japanese brush technique.

Mesmerized and fascinated crowd looks at the snapper who is friendly and refuses to bite:
Me - the owner:
I am thinking of attending the Calgary show in October 2004. Unlike the Vancouver show, this one will be all about reptiles, and a lot of people told me that
it will be very exciting.
