If the snappers are unwanted there the only option is to catch them and relocate. People should never use hooks to catch turtles. There are more
humane ways of doing that. It is not difficult to make a simple turtle trap and lure the snappers there with bait. Soetimes snappers will float
on the surface of the water on a sunny day and people succeed in scooping them with a net - given the snapper is just a small one.
There are also a number of commercially available turtle traps and you can even order them from the internet.
After catching the turtle next comes its relocation. The place for release should be carefully chosen. It should be a place far away for roads and people,
especially not a lake where people do lots of water sports and boating in the summer. The best would be if such place already had snapping turtle population
established.
