Hatchlings can be fed most of the same food given to adult snappers, with the obvious difference of making the portions approprietly smaller.
Additionally, they will eat earthworms and insects - crickets for example. A supplement of commercially available turtle pellets is also a great addition.
They should be fed every few days and as much as they want to eat. Any leftovers should be removed from water. They spoil very quickly
and keeping water dirty can eventually make the turtle and the owner alike sick. Chances of having salmonella in a spotlessly clean
setup are minimum, but a filthy environment is nothing else but an invitation to all sorts of bacteria.
