Yes, snappers can't swallow unless it is done underater. Of course you can offer your turtle a snack on dry land, but all they will do is grab it
and back off to the water to swallow it hole or rip it apart and then eat. When feeding your snapper, or any other turtle, a care should be taken
to offer them chunks of feed of apprpriate size. Given too big items to hatchlings especially will create hazard of having them choke on it.
The little turtles have only two things on thier minds: food and hiding spot. They are almost always hungry and will try to eat even something
which doesn't even fit in their mouth !
