Snapping turtles live North, Central and South America. (this is of course not counting those born in other countries! Two of my snappers
have been born in Asia, where I got them during my travels, but of course they are not native there)
The most abundant subspecies in North America is the common snapping turtle, which can be found North as far as in Ontario, Canada. The other
subspecies is the Florida snapper, which as the name suggests finds its home around Florida. The other two subspecies, the Central and Mexican snappers
are found from Mexico all the way down to Venezuela.
The alligator snapping turtle is a species which lives only in North America. They live mostly in Mississippi and Florida.
